The Design Process for Headstones with Steps
The first part of the design process is always the customer consultation. Here, we present all options for your grave - whether it's a single grave, a double grave, a family grave, or an urn grave.
We explain which natural stone best suits your requirements - with over 1800 m2 of exhibition space, you can see for yourself.
Among the most popular materials for headstones are granite, marble, basalt, sandstone, and limestone. They differ not only in appearance but also in maintenance at the cemetery and design possibilities for the stonemason.
Limestone
Limestone stands out with its yellowish to beige color variations and long durability. It's ideal for individual engravings and intricate work. Since limestone can be quarried in Germany, it's especially sustainable and comparatively inexpensive.
Sandstone
Sandstone impresses with its yellow, brown, and reddish hues to blue-black tones. As a softer stone, it is also excellent for detailed designs. It can also be locally quarried, making it sustainable and affordable.
Basalt
Basalt headstones are known for their strength and impact. The dark stone is often combined with minimalist design and clean lines, giving it a particularly elegant look. Another advantage: basalt is weather-resistant and very durable.
Marble
Particularly elegant but also expensive: headstones made of marble. Its wide color palette, unique marbling, and durability make it a luxurious but also fairly high-maintenance alternative to conventional stones.
Granite
Granite impresses with its wide range of colors and unique patterns. It is available in beautiful yellow tones as well as green, blue, or black. Granite stands up to the elements with ease and is also very low-maintenance.
Once you've chosen a stone, the design phase begins. Here we digitally design your headstone according to your wishes. Finally, we can also provide a quote with the final price, place the order, and arrange delivery.
All stones are crafted with the highest artisanal standards. The headstones are produced in our sculpture workshop in Crailsheim. Whether it's urn headstones, double headstones, or single headstones, we offer only headstones that truly meet our requirements.
Personal and Emotional Aspects of Design
Designing headstones is a very emotional and personal matter. The steps as a symbol on a headstone hold a special meaning that provides a lot of comfort to the bereaved. During the design process, personal motifs and symbols can also be incorporated to reflect the unique characteristics and memories of the deceased. This allows the bereaved to maintain a connection to their loved one through the design of the headstone.
The choice of material for the headstone also plays an important role; every stone has its own symbolic and aesthetic qualities that can underscore the personality of the deceased. Thus, headstone design can make an important contribution to the grieving process.
